By Linda Chiem (Jan 3, 2022, 12:02 p.m. EST) – A court battle over the types of interstate transportation workers who are exempt from arbitration and clashes over the scope of federal preemption in cases involving employees airlines and trucking suppliers are among the court battles transportation lawyers are watching in 2022.
Transportation companies that do business across state borders may be subject to more obscure rules governing how they draft their employment contracts and agreements, not to mention increased legal liability. At the same time, disputes have the potential to offer improved protections for workers and consumers that some advocates have said are long overdue.
