Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats are 4-0, 2-0 in the SEC game, but those last 2 games haven’t been easy against FCS Chattanooga and South Carolina on Saturday night.
But, wins are wins, and even with the Wildcats’ struggles, they will return to Lexington with a perfect record with big smiles on their faces.
However, Stoops weren’t exactly thrilled with his squad after losing the 3-0 turnover battle to the Gamecocks in the 16-10 victory.
Here are some of the Kentucky coach’s post-game statements at his press conference:
By winning an SEC road game:
The Mark Stoops presser in progress …
“Anytime you win an SEC road game it’s a good thing, but we didn’t make it easy.” Noted that his heart rate is on the rise and blood pressure is probably still high this week.

On Chris Rodriguez’s fumbling issues:
Stoops asked about Chris Rodriguez’s ball safety concerns: it’s unacceptable, and he played too much football for us to do. But they leaned on him at the end and came back to him. “The only thing I can say is we can’t find an excuse, we have to go back to work and fix it.”

On the quick defense and tackles in the open field:
Stoops praised the free field tackle tonight. Noted that young DB Jalen Geiger really stepped up and did some great things when he came home for this game.

On becoming Kentucky’s all-time leader in SEC wins:
Looks at Fran Curci for the most SEC wins by a British coach in program history:
