The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently ruled on a PIL requiring respondents to provide an adequate wide deck that meets all safety and security standards required by law.
The PIL was filed by Shyam Sundar Sharma and others to ask the respondents to provide an adequate wide deck that meets all safety and security standards required by law to provide regulated and well maintained heavy traffic, sanctioned funds by the government for the same and submit a report regarding the technical details of the small narrow bridge.
A directive was further requested from the respondents to provide well-maintained public roads to all citizens of Katyaghat Road, Katni. Direction is further sought to provide well-maintained, well-regulated, traffic-free roads to all citizens residing in and around Katyaghat Road Katni.
The PIL was filed in 2013. The Respondents filed their Reply and stated that the roads have already been constructed. The Jabalpur Division Bench of Chief Judge Mohammad Rafiq and Judge Vijay Kumar Shukla observed that with respect to the applicants ‘complaints about road maintenance, “in the event that the applicants’ complaint remains, they may contact the defendants regarding their grievance for the proper maintenance of the roads in question, âthe order reads.
