New Delhi [India]Mar. 9 (ANI): Amid controversy over the alleged violation of rules in the transportation of electronic voting machines (EVMs) for training, the Elections Commission (EC) on Wednesday ordered action against the Additional District Magistrate of Varanasi NK Singh.
Now, after the order, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh will proceed accordingly, the EC said.

Meanwhile, on the eve of the counting of votes for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls on Thursday, Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav had earlier in the day alleged ‘tampering with electronic voting machines’ , saying the BJP was scared as his party was winning Ayodhya. He urged the Electoral Commission to look into the matter.
“Samajwadi party is winning Ayodhya, that’s why BJP is scared. Election commission officials are manipulating EVMs,” he claimed in a press briefing here. Yadav also alleged that EVMs were flown to Varanasi without informing local candidates.

Assembly elections were held in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to March 7 in seven phases to elect the 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
